Microsoft Teams is a collaboration platform that helps faculty and staff stay connected through chat, video meetings, file sharing, and integrated tools—all in one place. Whether coordinating with colleagues, managing projects, or hosting virtual events, Teams supports real-time communication and efficient teamwork across departments.

Microsoft Teams Calling (VoIP)
Microsoft Teams Calling allows faculty and staff to make and receive phone calls directly through the Teams app using Voice over IP (VoIP) technology. With features like voicemail, call forwarding, and contact integration, it provides a flexible, modern phone system that supports remote and on-campus communication—no desk phone required.

Faculty and staff at ʯÁñÊÓƵC receive a Microsoft 365 account, providing access to cloud-based versions of popular Office apps like Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. It’s a convenient way to create, edit, and share files from anywhere, on any device.

Coud storage platform included with ʯÁñÊÓƵ’s Office 365 account that lets you securely save, access, and share files from any device. It's perfect for backing up important documents, collaborating with colleagues, and keeping files organized and accessible on the go. Your ʯÁñÊÓƵ account includes 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage.

Once your employment contract has been processed, an ʯÁñÊÓƵ email address will be automatically created for you in the format firstname.lastname@siu.edu. This email is the official channel for all university communications, so be sure to check it regularly. You can access your inbox by visiting  in a web browser, using the Microsoft Outlook app on your computer, or adding your ʯÁñÊÓƵ email to your mobile device.

Viva Engage is ʯÁñÊÓƵ’s internal social networking tool designed to foster community, knowledge sharing, and engagement. Use it to join conversations, share updates, ask questions, and stay informed about campus news and initiatives in a more interactive, connected space. Eduroam: Eduroam is the secure Wi-Fi network available on campus and at thousands of institutions worldwide. Connect easily without needing separate network access—view instructions to get started.

VPN: Under certain circumstances, ʯÁñÊÓƵ offers students access to a Virtual Private Network (VPN), allowing secure remote connection to the university’s network for off-campus work and resources.

SalukiTech Printing Services
SalukiTech Printing offers easy access to printers for students, faculty, and staff in convenient locations on campus. You can send documents to the print queue from campus computers or wirelessly from your personal devices. Payments are made using  funds, which are linked to your ʯÁñÊÓƵ Carbondale ID card.

Adobe Creative Cloud is available for free to faculty and staff ensuring that you have access to industry-leading tools for graphic design, video editing, web development, photography, and more—including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Acrobat. Whether you're creating course materials, promotional content, or professional publications, Creative Cloud provides everything needed to produce high-quality digital work.

Copilot, integrated with Microsoft 365, is an AI-powered assistant that helps streamline everyday tasks like drafting emails, summarizing documents, analyzing data, and generating content across apps like Word, Excel, Outlook, and more. It’s a powerful tool for faculty and staff looking to save time and boost productivity. Access to the full version of Co-Pilot is available after purchasing a license.

Company Portal
Need to install or update software on your ʯÁñÊÓƵ-owned device? Many commonly used applications—such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Acrobat, Cisco VPN, and Microsoft 365—are available directly through Company Portal. Just click the Windows search bar, type "Company Portal", and open the app. From there, you can install or update the software you need—no admin credentials or software request required. 

LastPass
LastPass is a secure password manager that helps faculty and staff store, manage, and autofill passwords for all their accounts in one encrypted vault. With features like password generation, secure password sharing, and multi-device access, LastPass simplifies login management while enhancing security across personal and professional accounts.

As an employee at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, you have access to a variety of services and resources that cyber-criminals also want. To keep the campus community digitally secure, ʯÁñÊÓƵC adopted Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Microsoft Authenticator is a mobile app that we use as part of the MFA process to quickly and safely verify your identity when accessing ʯÁñÊÓƵ systems.

Faculty and staff have free access to Microsoft Office 365 for use on both university and personal devices. This includes desktop and online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and more. Office 365 supports communication, collaboration, and productivity—whether you're preparing course materials, managing projects, or working with colleagues across departments.

Faculty and staff receive 1 TB of secure cloud storage through OneDrive, included with Microsoft Office 365. Access files from any device, keep your work backed up, and stay organized across projects and departments. OneDrive makes it easy to share documents and collaborate in real time with colleagues or students—whether you're on campus, working remotely, or on the move.

SalukiTech Software Licensing
SalukiTech offers a range of software licenses for academic and research purposes. Full-time students, faculty, and staff can access this software at no cost or reduced rates.

BigDawg High-Performance Computing Cluster (HPCC)
The BigDawg HPCC is available free of charge to all researchers and supervised students upon request ensuring flexible, unrestricted access that supports diverse research needs. For more information, browse the Research Computing website.

Microsoft Forms is a simple, free, user-friendly tool for creating surveys, quizzes, and polls. Faculty and staff can use it to gather feedback, assess learning, collect RSVPs, or streamline internal processes—with real-time results and built-in data visualization through Excel.

Apple Educational Discounts
Apple offers ʯÁñÊÓƵ faculty, staff, and students special pricing on many of their computers including the MacBook Air and the Mac Pro. Special pricing is also available for iPads, accessories, and Apple music. 

BTF Computer Replacement
The Basic Technology Fee (BTF) is a campus-wide fee meant to ensure funding for ongoing technology support, updates, and replacements across the University. Before implementing BTF, each department had to manage its own basic technology expenses.
